Filmarmalade presents Assemblers, Poseurs, Slapers, Cutters and A Gorbals Kiss
The fourth in the new series of Filmarmalade presents… is a screening of works by Kristian de la Riva and Emily Russell.
Kristian de la Riva & Emily Russell’s Do We Have To Play This Game?, describes through a series of rotoscoped animated self-portraits, the sadomasochistic rituals of power that underlay all sexual relationships. This theme is further explored in the animated film CUT, which explores the sense of trauma experienced after a significant personal loss, through the cartoonesque violent dismemberment of the human body as a radical strategy for cutting away all that hurts.
The evening will also include the World Premier screening of Kristian de la Riva’s work Gun3 Vs Combo.
Kristian de la Riva’s film CUT is part of the Animate Projects online exhibition Animate OPEN: Digitalis and received a special mention from the Jury in the OPEN Jury Prize. CUT can be watched online at animateprojects.org along with more films in the exhibition.
Filmarmalade is an artist run project established by Gordon Shrigley to publish DVD selected artistsʼ films and video works, so as to encourage a wider access to the moving image and to allow a greater understanding, through specially commissioned interviews.
The screenings take place on at 6pm 25 August at IMT Gallery in London and admission is free.
