Last Friday Shorts

Head slightly out of the city this Friday for Last Friday Shorts taking place at TAP/ old water works building in Southend-on-sea.

The evening begins at 7.30pm with film introductions from Olivia Humphreys and Animate’s Edwin Rostron, with short films screened until 8.30.

8.45pm – 9.45pm International short films will be presented including I swam in the Sea Last Week by Lebanese artist Nesrine Khodr, Deborah Stratman’s The Magicians House, Coal Father’s litany of concern, Are You Worried?, and Tim Webb’s brilliant Animate commission 15th February, a mix of live action and animation to a poem by Peter Reading.

Last Friday Shorts is a series of one-evening long showcases of video art works, including screening of footage used in video installations. Artists showcasing work often attend to introduce and stay for an informal Q&A. The film programme is curated by Michaela Freeman and supported by Suffolk and Essex Water, Arts Council of England and MUTE. New film submissions are welcomed each month and admission to the event is free.
