Allison Schulnik
Our Featured Artist for March is Allison Schulnik. Allison’s claymation films are transfixing and mysterious, featuring grotesque, multicoloured clowns in tragic circumstances, and landscapes of constantly erupting forms. The world we find in her animations echoes the imagery and textures of her work in oil paint and ceramics, all of which share recurring characters and a peculiar intensity.
Two of her films accompany music by the band Grizzly Bear, and her latest, Mound, is set to a song by Scott Walker. Visit Allison’s website here, and read an interview with her here.
